KEY POINTS

  • All sires in the team have been through a rigorous selection process both for physical and genetic traits.​

  • All sires have been genotyped. This is particularly important for when we are choosing young rams so that we have higher accuracy ASBVs to select on at a younger age.

  • Physical criteria that sires entering our team must conform on include:

    • Teeth and Jaws – these have to be correct even as an adult

    • Feet and Toes – Short, Sharp toes that require little to no maintenance

    • A balanced wool style  - this is a trait important to the first-cross ewe buyer

15-70 is one of our proven sires in the team but continues to be well ranked in industry and is a trait leader for the BLX Index.

16-93 has been a sire used over more than one drop at New Armatree and has risen to the top 10% of the breed for a number of traits making him a trait leader on the BLX. Semen from 16-93 has been exported to Chile.

17-404 was purchased in 2018 from Jackson Farming. 2019 will be the first drop of progeny by this ram. Jacksons genetic have proved themselves in the past at New Armatree with rams appearing in the pedigree of other New Armatree sires

  • A sire that is strong across many traits in particular Growth traits of Weaning and Post Weaning, also carrying Muscle.
